Project Update!

Alright. Minor setback- I was out of ink and couldn’t print my pattern. I finally printed it Sunday and put it all together. Easy peasy pattern to assemble, straightforward instructions. If you want to take the plunge sewing clothes, I highly recommend Patterns for Pirates.

I cut out, pinned, sewed, and serged this raglan in under three hours. I always go a little slow the first time I make anything, so the next time it should go much more quickly. I am just sorry I only had one yard of the Doctor Who fabric. It was a dream to sew. The gray fabric from Boho Fabrics is so super soft.

So here it is in all its Whovian glory…TheRebel in her Doctor Who themed relaxed raglan. She loves the fit, the funnel hood, the inset pockets- all of it.

Ok, teenagers are only so patient. TheRebel protested photos so these will do for now.

She likes the loose fit, so I didn’t grade down to a small although I could have. Thankfully she chooses comfort over “in fashion” which makes things easy for me. She has inset pockets on both sides which is where I deviated from the pattern a little. I stitched the pocket to the band and they’re not attached to the front of the shirt. Mine are standalone pockets instead of formed from the shirt and pocket pattern. I may add a buttonhole later for her earbuds.

The funnel hood is nice and deep. When worn down it makes for a very cozy cowl. She even has thumbholes on the cuffs- it is the very one thing she asked for. Whatcha think? If you make clothes for yourself or your family, do you have any favorite pattern designers?
